Job Description

FUNCTIONAL/OPERATIONAL:

A Procurement/Purchase Officer is responsible for managing and overseeing an organization's purchasing activities. Their role involves ensuring that the company procures goods, services, and equipment of the required quality at the best possible price.

Core Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing and Procurement: Identifying reliable suppliers, negotiating contracts, and procuring high-quality goods and services at competitive prices.
  • Inventory Management: Monitoring stock levels to ensure timely replenishment and prevent shortages or overstocking.
  • Order Processing: Preparing and processing purchase orders and requisitions efficiently and accurately.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Building and maintaining good relationships with vendors, resolving any issues, and ensuring timely delivery of goods.
  • Budget Adherence: Working within allocated budgets and ensuring procurement aligns with financial goals.
  • Market Research: Staying updated on market trends, new products, and potential suppliers to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Compliance: Ensuring all purchases meet company policies, legal requirements, and quality standards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Proven experience as a Purchase Officer or similar role (min 3 years).
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership qualities and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

QUALIFICATION (Education):

*Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.

**Minimum 5 years of work-related experience with at least 3 years’ experience as a Purchase Officer

DESIRED INDUSTRY EXPOSURE:

  1. Good exposure in FMCG industry is highly preferred
  2. Market Research and Analysis - Proficiency in conducting market research to understand consumer behavior, competitor landscape, and emerging trends. Analyzing data to identify opportunities and make data-driven decisions.
  3. Communication Skills - Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate the brand's message clearly and effectively to both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
  4. Supplier & Consumer Insights - The ability to understand and interpret supplier & consumer insights to create strategies that resonate with the target market.
  5. Monitoring and Analysis - Constantly monitoring product performance, customers’ feedback, and market trends to make real-time adjustments to procurement strategies.
  6. Crisis Management - Skill in handling reputation management and crises with tact and professionalism, safeguarding the Company's image during challenging times.
  7.  Budget Management - Ability to manage budgets effectively, optimizing resources for maximum impact.
  8. Innovation and Adaptability - A proactive approach to adapt to changing market dynamics and industry trends, consistently seeking innovative ways to enhance the brand's position.
  9. Analytical Skills - Proficiency in using data and metrics to measure the success of procurement initiatives and make informed decisions.
